Unemployment just fell to 9.0% in January.
Caveat Emptor: the economy only created 36,000 jobs (down from an expected 149,000) in January. The unemployment was expected to increase to 9.5% from 9.4% even if we hit the predicted job numbers. CNN Money described it as "confounding; mysterious..."
I blame Gremlins. Remember:
1. Never expose them to light;
2. Never get them wet;
3. Never, NEVER feed them after midnight!
Seriously, our recent winter blast may have had something to do with it as well. And sadly, since unemployment is based largely on checks going out, many have either exhausted their benefits and/or quit looking altogether.
And, before we get a true analysis of the job picture, learning a knew skill to put on your resume CAN'T HURT.
